We all know how seriously the 10pm gate curfew is taken. Yet, we all know what a thrill it was to sneak in through the back gate when late. One day in our first year, we didn’t make it back in time, so we tried to enter through the back gate. But we were unlucky that day, and got caught. The worst part was that everyone had night permission except me! I had to come up with a believable reason for being late, and so, fear of the warden made me jump into a muddy puddle and then run to the hostel. Limping and crying, I told the warden how I ‘fell’ so badly that I couldn’t walk and so I got late. Shockingly, the warden believed me, and getting off without a yelling was totally worth the fake medicines and limping acting I had to do for a week! Four years in MITID have made us all masters of jugaad. Also in this situation, my farm family was there to support me and be by my side, and they have continued to do just that for all these years, and that’s why staying in Loni was so simple and comfortable!
